Students are graded on Tests, Chapter Review (Practice Tests), Assignments, Problem Solving & Mental Math Strategies.
Course work is worth 60%, Mid-term Exam 15% and the Final Exam 25% of their final grade.
Students with an average of 75% or greater may be exempted from writing the final exam in June.

All students have the opportunity to do bonus work over the course of the term.  For every 100 bonus marks accumulated students will be
credited with an additional 1% toward their final grade.

Why Studying Math is Different

· Reading a math text is not like reading a novel. You may have to stop and think about some lines before proceeding.

· Math is a cumulative subject. If you miss a concept one day, it may come back to haunt you and could even prevent you from understanding concepts you study later. Always get help as soon as you recognize that you have a problem.

· Build up a network of math partners you can consult if you run into a roadblock.
(This includes Mrs. Mills!) These are the days of easy communication. Personal assistance, telephone, e-mail & instant messaging, are all available. Use them.
